You may see a lot of ads for tax refunds services from a range of companies. If you have a straight forward refund situation this can easily be done online directly through IRD without having to pay anything to a third party. If you actually are able to get a refund why get less by using a service you have to pay for when you can get the same outcome for FREE.
There is one other thing to consider when using these third-party services being they become your tax agent so IRD will send them IRD related correspondence. Not a good idea as they are only interested in getting their cut of your refund.
